Founded in 2016, Canadian Outdoor Journal is built on trust. We want you to be completely satisfied with your digital guides, seasonal subscriptions, and premium content. In 2024, 98.3% of our customers reported high satisfaction, and our refund rate sits at a low 1.7%. We believe in our products, and this policy is designed to be fair and transparent.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to all sales of digital products and services from CanadianOutdoorJournal.com, including:

  • Individual digital guide purchases (e.g., "Backcountry Safety in the Rockies," "Winter Camping 101").
  • Annual Premium Subscription memberships.
  • Bundled content packages.
  • One-time access passes to exclusive trip reports and maps.

3. The 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee for Digital Guides

If you purchase a single digital guide and find it doesn't meet your expectations, you are eligible for a full refund within 30 calendar days of your purchase date.

3.1 How It Works

Simply contact our support team at contact@canadianoutdoorjournal.com from the email address used for the purchase. Include your order number and a brief reason for the request. We process these requests within 3-5 business days. The refund will be issued to your original payment method.

3.2 Limitations

The guarantee is void if we have reasonable evidence of abuse, such as mass downloading and sharing of content, or repeated refund requests for the same product.

4. Subscription Cancellations & Pro-Rated Refunds

Our annual Premium Subscription renews automatically. You retain full control over your subscription.

4.1 How to Cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard under "Billing" or by contacting us directly. Cancellation stops future renewals.

4.2 Refunds for Unused Time

If you cancel an annual subscription before its renewal date, you are entitled to a pro-rated refund for any full, unused months remaining in your billing cycle. A "month" is calculated as 1/12 of the annual fee.

Example: If you cancel with 4 full months left on a $120 annual subscription, you would receive a refund of $40 (4/12 * $120).

4.3 Processing

Refunds for subscriptions are processed within 10 business days of cancellation confirmation. Access to premium content will continue until the end of the current paid period.

5. Non-Refundable Situations

To maintain fairness for all customers, we generally do not offer refunds in the following circumstances:

  • More than 30 days have passed since the purchase of a single digital guide.
  • You have changed your mind about a subscription after the renewal date has passed and a new charge has been processed (though you may still cancel for the next cycle).
  • If you have violated our Terms of Service, including unauthorized sharing or resale of our content.
  • For downloadable content that has been substantially accessed or downloaded in full.
